The School of Business and Entrepreneurship is established in order to further deepen the reform of the innovation entrepreneurship education of the University and to respond the request of the mass entrepreneurship and innovation, According to Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Deepening the Reform of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education in Colleges and Universities and Harbin Institute of Technology First-class University Construction Program. The goal of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship is to cultivate top innovative talents with both ability and entrepreneurship.
Training mode: students who have the intention to start their own businesses or have started their own businesses are selected to enter the training class for systematic entrepreneurship education, so as to improve their entrepreneurial ability and promote the transformation of entrepreneurial achievements.
On June 10, 2018, the School of Business and Entrepreneurship of HITWH was officially established. The School of Business and Entrepreneurship offers two entrepreneurship elite training classes (7-100 people) every year to popularize entrepreneurship awareness among all students. Entrepreneurship elite training class will focus on the improvement of entrepreneurship awareness, knowledge and ability; establish an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship team; incubate excellent entrepreneurship projects; gradually integrate innovation and entrepreneurship education into the process of talent training; and improve the innovation and entrepreneurship education system for college students. Relying on professionals, professors and entrepreneurial alumni of the School of Economics and Management, the School of Business and Entrepreneurship develops core courses integrating entrepreneurship courses, simulation practice and entrepreneurial practice, introduces a number of excellent MOOC/SPOOC, open courses and other online courses, and improves its entrepreneurial quality and skills through entrepreneurship simulation and practice. The teaching area of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship is located on the third floor on the south side of the student activity center, and the practical training area is located in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for University Students and the Maker Space in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park. Professor Zhang Luyang was hired as Dean of the school, and alumni Zhu tong, Chen Mingliang, Song Senhua, Wang Shitao, Jing Xingyu, Wen Bo, Wang Xinhong, Zhou Mingyu and Han Qingjing were appointed as the first batch of members of the Advisory Committee of the school.
Core courses mainly include: Basic content of business planning and business plan writing norms; the selection of planned projects; Environment analysis and strategy selection; Marketing research and planning; Operation system design and management; Organization design and human resource management; Investment analysis and financial management, etc. The courses amount to 64 credit hours. Simulation practice training mainly consists of sand table course, computer simulation, innovative tool application and other courses, amounting to 32 credit hours. Entrepreneurship practice requires students from the entrepreneurship elite class to establish an entrepreneurship team, settle in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, and carry out entrepreneurship practice activities according to the entrepreneurship project jointly decided with the mentor. The school adopts experiential teaching, and students have to complete earning investigation, group discussion, group report and other assignments. The graduation score is composed of the general performance and the business plan defense, among which the general performance accounts for 40% and the business plan defense accounts for 60%. According to the graduation score and general performance, the top 20% students will be awarded the title “Outstanding Student”. Students will be given credits for innovation and entrepreneurship and certificate of completion after finishing relevant courses.
